On Wednesday, November 11, three Dripping Springs High School athletes signed letters of intent with university athletic programs at a signing ceremony at the high school. “This is probably the first time we have had this many athletes sign at the early signing date in November,” said Athletic Director Howard Ballard. “Dripping Springs and DSISD can be very proud of these young people and their accomplishments. Both on and off the field, they represent their school and their community with class and distinction.”
Among the athletic awards earned by these students are:
Daniel Alexander (basketball): 2009 Dist. 26-4A First Team All District, Offensive MVP and 3rd Team All Centex, Averaged 19 Points and 9 Rebounds per Game; 2008 25-4A Second Team All District
Brianne Baley (softball): 2009 Dist. 26-4A First Team All District and Co-Most Valuable Player, 19wins 2 losses; 2008 25-4A First Team All-District 1st Base; 2007 25-4A Second Team All-District 3rd Base; Academic All District 2007 - 2009
Megan Shepard (volleyball): 2009 Dist. 26-4A First Team All District and Co-Most Valuable Player; Single Season Record 256 Kills
The athletes, their families, coaches, and school officials gathered in the DSHS library for the ceremony, as Daniel Alexander signed with Texas A&M University, Brianne Baley signed with Ouachita Baptist University, in Arkansas, and Megan Shepard signed with Rice University.
