PSAT Pickup Night
Please Note: The date for the PSAT pick up night has changed from Jan. 14 to Jan. 21. The time is still from 6:30-8:00pm and the location is still in the cafeteria.
Mock SAT and ACT testing
The high school counselors and Revolution Prep invite interested students to take a mock SAT test in the high school library on Saturday, February 13, 2010. The test is from 9am-1pm. The mock ACT test will be on Saturday, February 27 at the same time and location. Cost is $15.00 for one test or $20.00 for both tests. PSAT Pickup Night
The DSHS Counselors and Revolution Prep invite students and their parents to the PSAT pickup night on Thursday, January 21 from 6:30-8:00pm. This presentation will be located in the high school cafetorium. Revolution Prep representative will explain how to interpret the PSAT scores, address the question of "Where do I go from here?" and answer any questions you may have.

Letter Jacket Orders
Representatives from Meca Sportswear will be on campus Monday, November 23 to take letter jacket orders. They will be in the cafeteria from 7:45 a.m. - 8:50 a.m. and during all lunches from 11:45 a.m. - 1:17 p.m. Full payment will be due when placing an order.
Class Rings
A representative with Herff-Jones will be on campus Monday, November 30 to take orders for class rings and to deliver rings that have already been ordered. They will be in the cafeteria during all lunch periods from 11:45 a.m. through 1:17 p.m.
2010 Yearbook
Senior Advertisements for the 2010 Yearbook are now being sold in A213. Prices are as follows: Eighth page (1 photo) $45; Quarter page (4 photos) $85; Half page (6 photos) $125; Full page (10 photos) $225. Deadline for payment is November 12 with an additional $25 late fee after this date. Materials deadline is December 3. Contact Mrs. Zupancic at debra.zupancic@dsisd.txed.net with questions.
Senior Portraits
Photo Texas will be on campus to take Senior Portraits on November 19 and 20 from 2:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. and November 21 from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. if necessary. Seniors must choose their appointment time by signing up in A213 now through November 10. Senior Portraits will be taken in room A206. Portrait package prices will be mailed to the seniors' home address and will also be available from Mrs. Zupancic in A213. A $20 sitting fee is required at the time of the appointment if you wish that proofs be mailed to your home. As always, any senior may visit the Photo Texas Studio at any time for portraits by calling 419.9669 to schedule an appointment.
Yearbooks
The 2009 yearbooks have arrived! Graduates may pick up their yearbooks at any time by checking in at the main office and by signing for their books in A213. All current students may pick up their yearbooks in A213 beginning Tuesday, August 25th before or after school only. The number of extra yearbooks available for sale will be determined after all sold books have been distributed.

New Director of Child Nutrition Appointed
Dripping Springs ISD is pleased to announce the appointment of John P. Crowley as the new Director of Child Nutrition, replacing Gracy Capelo, who is retiring in December after twenty years in school nutrition management, including the past seven years with the DSISD.

Mr. Crowley has seventeen years of experience in food service management including ten years managing the San Marcos ISD child nutrition function. He also served as manager of food service with the Central Texas Medical Center in San Marcos. Mr. Crowley is currently the District’s Assistant Child Nutrition Director, and has responsibility for directing the food service operation for Wimberley ISD.

A Family and Consumer Science Licensed Dietitian, Mr. Crowley holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston, and a Master’s degree from Texas State University. He and his wife, Nora, have two college age children.

Caution: Construction
For the next few weeks, construction crews will be installing wastewater pipes from Dripping Springs Middle School to the northwest corner of Sportsplex Dr. and Highway 290. Construction vehicles and equipment may intrude onto Sportsplex Dr. at times.

Drivers are urged to drive slowly and exercise caution when passing construction vehicles in this area.

DSHS Athletes Sign Letters of Intent
On Wednesday, November 11, three Dripping Springs High School athletes signed letters of intent with university athletic programs at a signing ceremony at the high school. “This is probably the first time we have had this many athletes sign at the early signing date in November,” said Athletic Director Howard Ballard. “Dripping Springs and DSISD can be very proud of these young people and their accomplishments. Both on and off the field, they represent their school and their community with class and distinction.”

Among the athletic awards earned by these students are:
Daniel Alexander (basketball): 2009 Dist. 26-4A First Team All District, Offensive MVP and 3rd Team All Centex, Averaged 19 Points and 9 Rebounds per Game; 2008 25-4A Second Team All District

Brianne Baley (softball): 2009 Dist. 26-4A First Team All District and Co-Most Valuable Player, 19wins 2 losses; 2008 25-4A First Team All-District 1st Base; 2007 25-4A Second Team All-District 3rd Base; Academic All District 2007 - 2009

Megan Shepard (volleyball): 2009 Dist. 26-4A First Team All District and Co-Most Valuable Player; Single Season Record 256 Kills

The athletes, their families, coaches, and school officials gathered in the DSHS library for the ceremony, as Daniel Alexander signed with Texas A&M University, Brianne Baley signed with Ouachita Baptist University, in Arkansas, and Megan Shepard signed with Rice University.
